AC-T: Is Brevard the new cycling mecca of the South?

Here’s an excerpt from the Asheville Citizen-Times article:

Brevard’s momentum travels on two wheels.

In the past month, new businesses and events — both imported and homegrown — have spotlighted the mountain biking in the Transylvania and Henderson counties region and further established the area as an outdoor recreation haven.

First, Trek Bicycle Company, a Wisconsin-based company, debuted its new line of high-performance mountain bikes in early June in Transylvania County. About two dozen writers and editors flew in from around the world to test the bikes on trails that crisscross DuPont State Recreational Forest and Pisgah National Forest.

Trek normally launches in North American West Coast biking meccas like, Moab, Utah, or Whistler, Canada.

Days later, Brevard’s Oskar Blues Brewery announced its new REEB Ranch, a 145-acre mountain cycling destination in the shadow of the DuPont State Recreational Forest. At the end of June, the brewery announced that the ranch on the former Shoal Falls Farm property would host the Red Bull Dreamline dirt-riding showcase this October.
