David Holt and the Lightning Bolts at Madison County Arts Center, Jan. 24
David Holt and his Lightning Bolts are set to strike Marshall on Saturday, January 24.
Four-time Grammy Award winner David Holt is a musician, storyteller, historian, television host and entertainer, dedicated to performing and preserving traditional American music and stories. Holt plays ten acoustic instruments and has released numerous recordings of traditional mountain music and southern folktales. Since 1982, North Carolinians have enjoyed David weekly on his UNC-TV program, Folkways.David will be hitting the stage with his band The Lightning Bolts. The Lightning Bolts feature multi-instrumentalist and Madison County native Josh Goforth. Josh is well known for his instrumental prowess, his stunning arrangements and his effusive personality. “It’s always a treat to have Josh and David back in Madison County,” remarked Laura Boosinger, Executive Director of The Madison County Arts Council. “Josh grew up playing at Jerry Adams’ pharmacy and the Depot. He has certainly become one of the best musicians in the business. David, of course, grew up musically in Madison County. Many of the songs the band does have their roots right here, from Sodom to Lonesome Mountain. This is a musically varied show from blues to old-time, Bluegrass to originals.” Rounding out The Lightning Bolts are Jeff Hersk on bass, drummer Byron Hedgepeth and Laura Boosinger.
