Cars are already honking as they drive by Farm Burger’s newest location at 1831 Hendersonville Road. The Atlanta-based company’s co-founder, George Frangos, says folks have been telling him they can’t wait for the grand opening, set for Monday, May 9. “They [won’t] have to fight the tourists and the crowds and the parking [downtown],” he says with a laugh.
Since its arrival to Asheville in 2013, Farm Burger has been voted the city’s Best Burger three years in a row in the Xpress Best of WNC polls. The South Asheville location will be the company’s second site in the Asheville area, with six additional locations in Georgia, Alabama and California.
The company prides itself on its sustainable and locally sourced ingredients. Frangos lists numerous local growers and farmers that supply its Asheville stores, including Hickory Nut Gap Farm, Ivy Creek Family Farm, Looking Glass Creamery, and R Farm.
The new South Asheville location will be similar to the company’s Patton Avenue restaurant in its modern, rural aesthetic, although Frangos notes the menu will see some variations. Nate Whiting, who currently cooks at the restaurant’s downtown spot, will relocate to the Hendersonville Road store to head the new kitchen “He’ll put his own spin on the daily specials and snacks and a little bit of the menu,” says Frangos.
The 2,700-square-foot restaurant will include an outdoor patio and will be open for lunch and dinner daily. Hours will be 11:30 a.m.-10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 11:30 a.m.-11 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
The new Farm Burger is at 1831 Hendersonville Road. For additional information visit farmburger.net.
