Responsible investment firm Earth Equity Advisors announced that acclaimed climate change author Dr. Katharine Wilkinson and CNN climate change columnist John Sutter will be the featured speakers in their fourth annual lecture series this October.
“Reversing Global Warming: A Conversation with Katharine Wilkinson and John Sutter” will feature the two thought leaders in a panel moderated by Earth Equity’s CEO, Peter Krull. The free event will take place on Tuesday, Oct. 3 at 6 p.m. at The Collider, a nonprofit innovation center focused on catalyzing market-driven climate solutions, located at 1 Haywood St., in downtown Asheville, on the top floor of the Wells Fargo building.
“As an organization focused on climate change solutions, we are honored to welcome Katharine and John to Asheville and are happy to partner with Earth Equity on this event,” said Megan Robinson, The Collider’s executive director. “We anticipate their talk to be both insightful and impactful for our nonprofit and our community.”
The Earth Equity Advisors Lecture Series is an annual one-night event open to Asheville’s community members, featuring nationally renowned thinkers who provide fresh insights to environmental challenges and social responsibility. Past speakers have included thought leaders from Patagonia, Cradle to Cradle Institute, and Green Century Investments.
“We are proud and excited to be hosting our fourth annual speaker series event here in Asheville,” said Peter Krull. “It’s core to our mission to provide opportunities like this where the public can interact with thought leaders like Katharine and John.”
Wilkinson is the senior writer of the best-selling book, Drawdown, edited by Paul Hawken. She is also the author of Between God and Green. Her background melds research, strategy, and thought leadership on climate action. Wilkinson holds a D.Phil. in geography and environment from Oxford University and a B.A. in religion from Sewanee.
Sutter is an award-winning columnist for CNN and creator of the network’s “2 Degrees” project, which aims to involve readers in climate change coverage.
“Reversing Global Warming” will begin at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, October 3. Doors open at 5:30. Admission is free and seats are limited. Light refreshments will be served from one of the event’s sponsors, Green Sage Café.
