Press release from Lyndi Alexander:
Local author Babs Mountjoy, writing as Lyndi Alexander, announces the release of her new young adult fantasy, THE LOST CHORD, with an official book launch on May 26 at a co-sponsored event with Asheville Cat Weirdos at The Odditorium, 1045 Haywood Road, Asheville, NC, from 9 am-noon.
As a poisonous wave spreads disease and discord across the eleven known universes, the Conductor races to find the seven Keys and strike the Lost Chord. He searches among the universes for persons whose souls vibrate at a particular musical frequency. One such Key is Bee Warrick, an autistic teenager from Earth who has traveled between the realms for years without realizing it. Can Bee help the Conductor find the other Keys before a bitter enemy strikes the wrong chord and shatters the universes?
But Bee is not alone in her quest. She’s joined by a football player addicted to online quest games, a desert wild child with a hidden past, a boy with feline characteristics from a low tech world, an over-achieving black girl from a world where blacks are the majority. The Conductor must unite his team with music, metaphysics and science, blending their vibrational notes to perform in the concert of a lifetime.
The unique facet to the book is that THE LOST CHORD’s heroine, Bee, is on the autism spectrum. Despite the fact that autism is being diagnosed at an astounding rate across the country, very few autistic protagonists appear in YA novels. As the mother of three children with autism, Alexander is in a unique place to bring to the pages a likable girl who struggles to prove to her teammates that she has talents, even if they are not like those most people have. They do come around to learn that everyone can contribute—a useful lesson for readers as well.
Alexander has been a published writer for over 40 years, including seven years as a reporter and editor at the South Dade News Leader in Homestead, Florida. THE LOST CHORD will be her 12th published book, including the Horizon Crossover series and the Clan Elves of the Bitterroot series. Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/thelostchordnovel/
