Sierra Club calls for comments on I-26 Connector

Press release from the Sierra Club of Western North Carolina:

NCDOT is accepting comments on the I-26 Connector before Jan 4. MountainTrue states the following:

“The maps that NCDOT shared at the recent hearing in Asheville were still missing crucial improvements that Asheville’s residents and city government have called for. These improvements would have a decisive impact on the kind of city Asheville becomes once this project is built.”

Please contact North Carolina Dept. of Transportation to recommend:

  • Adopt the City of Asheville’s vision of turning Patton Avenue into a dense, urban, multi-modal corridor.
  • Tighten up the design for all intersections throughout the project to reduce the amount of land used, improve safety for bikers, more pedestrian connections,  and create better connections for Asheville.
  • Reduce the visual and noise impacts of the project and the physical impacts to homes and businesses.
