Bottle and can releases
- Oskar Blues Brewery‘s Steep Coast Strata DIPA (8.0% ABV) is currently available in four-packs of 16-ounce cans and on draft. The first installment in the brewery’s new Steep Coast Mountain IPA Series will spotlight one hop varietal at a time, with Zappa, Southern Passion and Enigma versions to follow later this year.
- **NEW** Burial Beer Co. has four new packaged releases this week, available exclusively in its taproom. Friday, April 26, brings The Decapitation of Morbidity IPA with Pineapple (7.2% ABV), double dry-hopped with Sabro, Vic’s Secret and Simcoe, in four-packs of 16-ounce cans for $18. Then on Saturday, April 27, the brewery releases Born from Death Saison with Peach and Nectarine Blossoms (4.4% ABV), a collaboration with TRVE Brewing Co., in four-packs of 16-ounce cans for $14; The Separation of Light and Darkness Mixed Culture Saison Ale with Peaches (6.5% ABV), made with N.C. barley and wheat from Riverbend Malt House, in 500 milliliter bottles for $14; and the 2019 edition of The Garden of Earthly Delights Mixed Culture Saison with Asian Pear, Persimmon, Sweet Potato, Cardamom and Cinnamon (6.9% ABV) in 500 milliliter bottles for $12.
- Sideways Farm & Brewery releases four different IPAs, dubbed 4-Way IPAs (6.8 percent ABV), on Saturday, April 27. The beers were made with the same base IPA, brewed with malted Carolina Gold 2 Row from Carolina Malt House, then divided into four fermenters and dry hopped with a different hop: Calypso, Citra, Fuggle and Loral. Each of the beers were then bottle conditioned using local wildflower honey. Each version will be available in 750 milliliter bottles for $11 each, in individual pours or in $6 flights of four.
- Catawba Brewing Co. releases its fifth barrel-aged packaged product, Sour Red Ale with Blood Oranges, on Saturday, April 27.
Small-batch beers and ciders
- **NEW** In addition to the aforementioned packaged releases also being available on draft, Burial is currently pouring The River of Transcendence IPA with 100% Cryo Hops (6.5% ABV), and on Saturday, April 27, will release Enlightened by the Distortion American Saison with Green River Botanicals Hemp Flower (7% ABV).
- UpCountry Brewing Co. releases Bad Bad Leroy Brown Ale (5.9% ABV), on Wednesday, April 24, at its West Asheville location and the following day at its Brevard taproom.
- Sweeten Creek Brewing releases Blushing Belgian Blonde, aged on boysenberry and apricot, on Wednesday, April 24, followed by the first in a series of flavored seltzers on Friday, April 26. Initial offerings include Blood Orange Apricot, Blueberry Lemon and Lime Mango with ABVs between 4.5-6%.
- Catawba taps a Session Brut IPA on Thursday, April 25, at all four of its locations.
- **NEW** Bhramari Brewing Co. is currently pouring Atomic Pageantry, a fruited sour made with guava, passionfruit, blood orange, strawberry, raspberry and tangerine.
- Highland Brewing Co. releases Yes Dear (5.4% ABV), an ESB hopped with Fuggle and Celeia and crafted by head brewer Jamie Rowe, and Galaxy IPA (6.6% ABV), brewed with more than five pounds of per barrel of its titular hop on Friday, April 25.
- **NEW** Eurisko Beer Co. is currently pouring Slide Life Imperial Lager with Cabernet Sauvignon Must (11.7% ABV), brewed in collaboration with plēb urban winery.
- Hillman Beer celebrates its second anniversary on Saturday, April 27, with the release of 2 Down Doppel Bock.
- Ginger’s Revenge releases a Bloody Mary ginger beer on Sunday, April 28.
Special events
- Asheville Brewers Supply hosts its monthly Brewers Social on Tuesday, April, 6-9 p.m. Attendees are invited to bring some of their latest labeled homebrew creations to share. Complimentary pizza from Asheville Pizza Co. will be provided.
- Burial‘s Sharpen the Blades Saison Showcase takes place Saturday, April 27, beginning at noon. The 2019 edition will feature 23 different saisons and mixed culture beers from breweries across the country and world. Instead of a ticketed event as it has been in the past, this year utilizes a pay-per-beer approach with 8-ounce and 12-ounce pours available of each event beer. Additional non-saison Burial beers will be on tap at the front and back bars. The full list of participating breweries is available online.
