Celtic Thunder’s Emmet Cahill plays benefit show March 20 at FUMC Brevard

Press release from Emmet Cahill Promotions:

Emmet Cahill, widely regarded as “Ireland’s most exciting young tenor” and star of PBS’s musical stage show Celtic Thunder is back on tour in the United States this spring and bringing his solo show to Transylvania County.  The concert is on Friday, March 20th at 7:30 p.m. at First United Methodist Church in Brevard. Proceeds will benefit the music ministries at FUMC.

With a timeless voice and effortless elegance, Emmet will serenade the audience with a mix of traditional Irish tunes (”Danny Boy”, “When Irish Eyes Are Smiling”), beloved church hymns (“How Great Thou Art”), nostalgic favorites (“Moon River”) and Broadway classics (“Music of the Night”,”On The Street Where You Live”).  He’ll also take audience requests during the popular “song request medley” which often brings forth some delightful surprises!

From the age of four, Cahill has been devoted to the world of music, studying a variety of instruments and receiving formal classical training in opera at the prestigious Royal Irish Academy of Music in Dublin.  Along with being recognized with accolades like “Tenor of the Year” by the Irish Music Association and winning multiple classical competitions throughout Ireland, Cahill has served as the principal vocalist for the world-renowned Irish music show Celtic Thunder since 2011.

In the five years that Emmet has toured as a solo artist, he’s hit many milestones, including performing to a sold-out crowd at New York’s Carnegie Hall in 2018.  In 2017, Cahill recorded his debut orchestral album “Emmet Cahill’s Ireland”, a compilation of traditional Irish songs and ballads. Accompanied by the National Symphony Orchestra of Ireland and released on the Sony Music USA label, it went straight to Number #1 on the Billboard, Amazon and iTunes World Music charts.  He has been a featured guest artist with symphonies in Tennessee, Florida and New York City and had the honor of opening the 2017 NYC St. Patrick’s Day Parade with a tender rendition of “Danny Boy”.  Last year on this most celebrated day for the Irish, he was invited to sing at the famed St. Patrick’s Cathedral.

Maestro Seamus Brett, Celtic Thunder’s Assistant Musical Director, will once again accompany Cahill on the sanctuary piano.  Brett has worked extensively in the Irish and international music business as both a musician and a producer with many talented and respected entertainers.

Don’t miss this unforgettable evening of songs and stories from the Emerald isle’s premier tenor!  General admission tickets are $30 and Meet & Greet + concert tickets are available for $45. Tickets may be purchased online at www.emmetcahill.com/tour-dates/ or at Highland Books on Main Street.  First United Methodist Church is located at 325 N. Broad Street in Brevard.
