On gratitude: Carl Mumpower

Carl Mumpower

“Gratitude is medicine – love this MountainX Thanksgiving initiative.

“I’m professionally grateful for a very productive year, my in-my-twenties commitment to psychology as a profession, and for a little leftover time to poke at the vanities of the liberal-progressive movement.

“Personally, I’m blessed with the grounding nature of my Christian faith, loved ones dedicated to light and the seven virtues over darkness and the seven deadlies, and a community that’s mostly safe, interesting and semi-affordable.

“A message of hope? America’s success equation is liberty + opportunity + responsibility = prosperity. More people than not understand we can’t leave out pieces and produce the same outcome.”

Mumpower is a local psychologist, former member of Asheville City Council and political activist.

  1. Enlightened Enigma

He was the ONLY one with ANY common sense on city council for decades, really. He is to be admired for his ability to deflect all the leftwing HATRED, their common trait. Leftwing progressives HATE America and want it destroyed. Why is that, Carl?

The only people who hate this country are the people like you who take the word of our enemies like Russia over our own intelligence and other law enforcement officials. People like you who wish to keep people from voting because they don’t look like you think like you or pray like you. YOU hate America because you no longer get to just barely show up without any effort and be given a cushy job for life. You hate America because now you have to compete on a more even playing field with women, minorities and others. You and your ilk refuse to upgrade your education or job skills and then whine because no one wants to hire you anymore. What you call hate is people fed up with your nonsense over so many decades and telling you how the world works now and you are no longer on top of it because you’re a white guy. Get over yourself. WE love this country and want the promise of the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution to apply to us as much as it has for you. We only hate cowards, racists and traitors.

Honest answer E.E. – people in pain often use anger as a temporary pain reliever from internal unhappiness. Unfortunately anger almost always comes ironically packaged with depression. That leads to a viscous cycle whereby one has to accelerate their anger as a temporary distraction from internal misery. It’s an addictive solution that’s especially hard to beat because one can conceal it behind a mask of virtue. Politics is a perfect place for the this afflicted to hide…
