Press release from BeLoved Asheville:

BeLoved Asheville works to create innovative solutions to community struggles.

Today, BeLoved launched a new project called BeLoved Camp Clean which provides access to cleanup supplies. trash and recycling cans, and pickup to residents in our City who must camp because they do not have a home.

BeLoved Camp Clean works in collaboration with camp residents providing infrastructure, supplies, and support to care for their camp and the Earth. BeLoved Camp Clean will also work to help clean up former camps recycling camping gear and cleaning the area.

“We have been connected to people who are camping in our community because of the housing crisis. Many of them are want to live in a clean environment but lack the access to things like trash bags, receptacles, and a way for trash and recycling to be picked up. BeLoved Asheville is a community building organization. We listen to people, hearing their struggles and work with them towards solutions. Our friends at the Lexington Ave. Bridge camp have already organized themselves to each take one day a week to clean. This gives people living on the streets the same resources as housed people have to take care of their trash and recycling and removal. We wanted to support this and other camps to honor their intentions,” said Adrienne Sigmon, BeLoved Asheville Co-Director

“What BeLoved has done is so helpful to us. We want to keep our camp clean and try our best, but it is hard without the supplies that we need. Having these trash and recycling cans here and having them help pick up the trash is incredible,” said J, Lexington Bridge Camp resident.

BeLoved will be adding receptacles at camps throughout the City and will do pickups of trash and recycling multiple times a week through a system they have put in place. If you would like to volunteer with BeLoved’s Camp Clean project or donate funds or supplies to help the project, you may connect via the BeLoved website, www.belovedasheville.com.
