Press release from the Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office:
Sheriff Quentin Miller has named John Ledford as the new Major at the Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office.
Ledford has previously served as Sheriff of Madison County from 1998 to 2009 and as Director for the North Carolina Division of Alcohol Law Enforcement from 2009 to 2013. Captain Ledford has more than 30 years of experience in law enforcement and began his career as a Deputy with the Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office.
“Major Ledford has worn a lot of different hats in law enforcement and having served as a Sheriff and as head of a statewide agency he brings significant leadership and management experience to the job. Those skill-sets have served the Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office well in his most recent role of running CID over the past year,” says Sheriff Quentin Miller.
Ledford is a graduate of the FBI National Academy, and the FBI-LEEDA Carolina Command College, the United States Department of Justice DEA Drug Unit Commanders Academy, the American International Polygraph Institute, and the National Center for Credibility Assessment Senior Examiners School.
He also holds an Advanced Law Enforcement Certificate from both the North Carolina Sheriff’s Training and Standards Commission and the North Carolina Criminal Justice Training and Standards Commission.
