Smart bet web extra: Adrianne Lenker and Buck Meek

Adrianne Lenker and Buck Meek will perform at the Mothlight Monday, May 19 at 9 p.m. Busman's Holiday, Holy Holy Vine and Impossible Vacation also perform.

Minneapolis-born, Brooklyn-based Adrianne Lenker released her debut CD, Stage of the Sun when she was only 14 years old. After graduating from Berklee School of Music on a full scholarship, Lenker moved to New York City in 2012 and released her newest, and what she considers to be her true debut album, Hours Were the Birds, according to a press release. The songwriting is pleasingly intricate — at once sweet and piercing. Her raw, wistful and folky sound has been described as “a mix of Laura Marling, Coco Rosie and Joni Mitchell,” but it’s probably best to just listen for yourself (and get to the Mothlight on Monday —  local acts, Holy Holy Vine and Impossible Vacation are also on the lineup).
