Jazz saxophonist, flutist and vocalist Karl Denson is reprising his leading role in Karl Denson’s Tiny Universe for the band’s spring tour. Though Denson has been busy touring with The Rolling Stones as the rock band’s saxophonist, he’s also been working on a new album with his own band, due out later this year. For an upcoming show in Asheville, the group recruited special guest keyboardist Melvin Seals, best-known for his work with the Jerry García Band. The group will perform tunes from Denson’s forthcoming album, older fan favorites and high-energy covers from artists like Prince, The White Stripes and Beastie Boys. Karl Denson’s Tiny Universe takes the stage at Salvage Station on Thursday, May 18, at 9 p.m. $25/$28. salvagestation.com. Photo courtesy of Denson
