Smart Bets: Minds & Rhymes

Home to a wide variety of artists and genres, Sly Grog Lounge continues its diverse ways on Saturday, April 14, with the Minds & Rhymes local and regional hip-hop showcase. On the bill is Asheville’s own SIYAH (short for Strugglin’ Improves Your Ambitious Hustle), who’s followed up his November 2017 EP, Steadfast, with the single “Weather” and a guest verse on Nex Millen’s “Rhythm Roulette” alongside Spaceman Jones and Truth-I Manifest. Also aboard are fellow North Carolina MCs Newman and Benny Okoto. Hailing from Raleigh, Newman’s credits include rapper, singer-songwriter, producer and co-founder of the digital media/art/music collective Ten $teps Ahead, of which Okoto is also a member.
