“Bonnie Raitt is my No. 1 influence,” says vocalist Peggy Ratusz. “She empowers and shows women like me that we can perform into our ages, and she was a forerunner proving to all people that female players should be taken seriously. Simply put, she’s changed the face of music.” Asheville instrumentalists Mike Barnes (multiple guitars), Michael Hynes (bass), Aaron Price (keys) and Ben Bjorlie (drums) will back Ratusz as she performs a live tribute to the soul and blues singer. Ratusz will also share her own commentary on Raitt’s history and social influence throughout the evening, giving audience members “something to talk about” between covers of hit songs and lesser-known favorites. Isis Restaurant & Music Hall hosts the show Saturday, Sept. 12, at 9 p.m. $12/$15. isisasheville.com. Photo by Julie Bird
