Smart bets: The Life & Times of American Crow

For more than 10 years, local writer Sebastian Matthews has been working on The Life & Times of American Crow. The project details the spiritual journey of Linus Grey, aka American Crow, as he travels across the country. Matthews worked with Asheville-based printers Woolly Press to serially publish the book’s chapters, and the final collection will be boxed by Hendersonville bookbinder Jon Buller. As Matthews refined the character, musician Nathan Bell began writing songs about Grey, and he will release an accompanying album, The American Crow Sessions, at the event. The book launch, which will take place at Asheville BookWorks on Saturday, May 20, at 7 p.m., will also feature the Engaging Collage art show with work from Asheville-area artists.
