Asheville-Buncombe League of Women Voters hosts reception

The Asheville-Buncombe League of Women Voters is hosting a wine and cheese reception with a focus on learning about the women who fought for women’s right to vote. “Wine, Cheese & Suffragettes,” will include a presentation by Kevan Frazier of Western Carolina University and Asheville on Foot walking tours.

What: Wine, Cheese & Suffragettes Reception

When: Monday, Nov. 16, reception begins at 6:30 p.m., presentation begins at 7 p.m.

Where: St. Johns’ Episcopal Church, 290 Old Haw Creek Road

According to press release from the League of Women Voters:

We are excited to welcome local historian Dr. Kevan Frazier to speak about suffragettes and the suffragette movement. Dr.Frazier has taught Urban History for over 20 years, currently serves as the Executive Director of Western Carolina University programs at Biltmore Park and is the founder of Asheville on Foot Walking Tours. Dr. Frazier’s book, Legendary Locals of Asheville, is a collection of 150 biographical shorts on the women and men who founded, built and rebuilt Asheville.
