Asheville-centric street photography exhibit opens Aug. 16 at UNCA

A mix of black and white photography and colorful scenes, a new street photography exhibit focuses on one broad, vibrant and eclectic subject: Asheville, N.C.

The show by local artist Joe Longobardi opens Aug. 16 in UNCA’s Ramsey Library. More details about the exhibit and the opening reception can be found in the press release below.

“Urban Photography from the Streets of a Bohemian Mountain Town,” an exhibit of both color and black-and-white photographs by local artist Joe Longobardi, will be on view August 16-September 27, in UNC Asheville’s Ramsey Library. An opening reception will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, August 27 in the Blowers Gallery.

Longobardi takes a photojournalistic approach to street photography. His portrait of Asheville features a diverse and eclectic mix of street performers, political activism, and traditional and conventional temperaments.

Longobardi’s works will be on view in the Blowers Gallery during regular library hours. The exhibit and reception are free and open to the public. For more information, including library hours, visit bullpup.lib.unca.edu/library or call 828.251.6336.
