Asheville City Council urges community not to disrupt downtown business in weekend protests

Statement from Asheville City Council:

We are aware of possible protests planned for this weekend by groups with the goal of disrupting business downtown.

We support the right to protest, we support speaking out against economic and racial injustice, and we discourage the disruption of business. Disrupting downtown businesses harms service workers, and the many neighbors and friends who depend on those businesses.

Please stay safe. We do not want anyone to get hurt.

    City Council is fully responsible for all of this. They are incompetent and evil in their ways. It’s how evil democrackkks roll, causing

    Here’s my response to our “City Council”:

    The City Council’s released statement appears to be written by a 3rd grader. Seriously!

    Here’s how it should have read:

    We are aware of possible protests planned for this weekend by groups with the goal of disrupting business downtown.
    We support the right to protest, we support speaking out against economic and racial injustice; however, the disruption of business is totally unacceptable and will result in arrest.

    Disrupting downtown businesses harms service workers, and the many neighbors and friends who depend on those businesses. For those and other sound reasons, it is commonly considered ILLEGAL.

    Protestors must be safe and lawful; anything beyond that will result in arrest.
