Press release from Haywood County Emergency Management Team:
In the week since the last press release on Nov. 24, 2020, Haywood County Public Health has received notice of 195 new cases of COVID-19. As of 5 p.m. Nov. 30, 2020, the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services has recorded a total of 1,207 cases in Haywood County since the pandemic began.
COVID-19 cases continue to rise at a rapid pace. HHSA Public Health Division received over 100 new cases this weekend alone.
“I am proud of all the hard work the Public Health staff have put in to do contact tracing and inform those in isolation and quarantine when they are released. Also, Environmental Health staff and Social Services staff have willingly provided assistance to perform contact tracing to help manage the heavy workload. All of these county employees have my appreciation. The next week will show us how well we did as a county fighting off COVID-19 over the Thanksgiving Holiday. Please continue to be vigilant and keep yourself, your family, your friends, and your coworkers safe,” said Interim Health Director Garron Bradish.
As of 5 p.m., Nov. 30, 2020, Haywood County’s COVID-19 working number, representing individuals who are in isolation or quarantine due to exposure, unfortunately, remains near last week’s high, at 383 people. Of these, 177 cases are in isolation after testing positive (up 42 from last week) and 206 people are in quarantine, having been identified as a close contact of a known case during contact tracing.
