Press release from Black Wall Street AVL and The Grind:

Black Wall Street AVL and The Grind LLC are thrilled to announce Grindfest 2023, a three-day carnival-themed event packed with excitement, education, and entertainment. The event will take place from May 26-28, 2023, in Asheville, NC, and is designed to promote and support Black-owned businesses, entrepreneurship, and economic empowerment.

Organized by Shay Events, Grindfest 2023 promises to be a delightful blend of carnival fun and professional activities. The event will feature a BWS Marketplace, where Black-owned businesses can showcase their products and services, as well as a street dance party, hip-hop aerobics, and a poetry slam. Attendees can also enjoy a food truck festival, a beer garden, and a Roots Reveal exhibition, among other exciting mini-events.

“We’re excited to host Grindfest 2023 and provide a carnival-themed space where Black-owned businesses can shine,” said a spokesperson for Black Wall Street AVL. “Our mission is to foster community and unity among Black residents and businesses in Asheville, while also educating the public about the history and significance of Black Wall Street.”

In addition to the mini-events, Grindfest 2023 has plenty of carnival entertainment planned for attendees. There will be a cooking competition, a drag show on the greenway, and a skate jam. Attendees can also enjoy carnival games, rides, and attractions. There will also be a concert at the Salvage Station, a Latin Night, and an adult field day. The event will conclude with the Together Summit, where local entrepreneurs and business leaders will discuss strategies for promoting economic empowerment and growth in the Black community.

“We’re confident that Grindfest 2023 will be a carnival experience to remember,” said a representative from The Grind LLC. “We hope that attendees will have fun, learn something new, and leave feeling inspired to support Black entrepreneurship and economic empowerment.”
