Downtown Commission approves new hotel plans

From the Asheville Citizen-Times:

ASHEVILLE — Construction of a new downtown hotel should begin early next year and take 14-18 months, an architect involved said today after a city board approved its design.

The city Downtown Commission this morning gave its unanimous OK to plans for a seven-story Hyatt Place hotel at the western corner of Haywood Street and Montford Avenue.

The hotel is planned to have 139-140 rooms, architect Chris Allred said.
