“PFLAG believes it is vitally important to help our LGBTQ youth and their allies find safe places in their school environments,” says chapter president Jerry Miller. “We want to make sure that happens here in Henderson County and we hope the community will support the car wash to help us raise funds to support our LGBTQ youth.”
First Congregational issued the following statement: “The prophet, Micah, asks the question, ‘What does the Lord require?’ We at First Congregational UCC have taken to heart the answer to Micah’s question — ‘To do justice, love, kindness, compassion, and walk humbly with your God.’ And in doing so, we proudly host the car wash sponsored by PFLAG as a fundraiser for LGBTQ youth in our area and welcome all the participants.”
Jim Faucett, former executive director of Youth Outright and the PFLAG member coordinating the car wash, says, “If you have a dirty car and want to support LGBTQ youth, September 24 is your chance to make a difference.”
