Hendersonville Stormwater Division launches stormwater asset inventory and assessment

Press release from the city of Hendersonville:

Hendersonville, NC (December 22, 2020) The City of Hendersonville Stormwater Division has contracted with WithersRavenel to conduct a Stormwater Asset Inventory and Assessment within Hendersonville’s City limits and extra-territorial jurisdiction (ETJ). The information collected during this project will enable the City to:

·         Identify and assess the conditions of existing drainage infrastructure;

·         develop priority areas for future hydraulic analysis;

·         identify priorities for stormwater retrofits and future capital improvement needs, and

·         develop an operation and maintenance schedule for public infrastructure.

Four priority areas have been identified and are shown in the attached map. Within the priority areas, much of the drainage system is located within public right-of-way however there may be instances where structures are located on private property. In those instances, it may be necessary for WithersRavenel staff to be on private property in order to collect the required data.

To ensure the recognition of WithersRavenel staff conducting the inventory, field personnel will wear brightly colored safety vests and shall be easily identified as WithersRavenel employees by their logo.

Beginning in late-December field crews will be locating and assessing underground pipes, culverts, and associated drainage structures within the City limits and the ETJ. Survey crews will be identifying the location of drainage structures and taking measurements of the dimensions of pipes and open channels. Crews will not disturb property or vegetation on private property.

If you have any questions regarding the project or the collection of data, please contact Michael Huffman, Stormwater Administrator for the City of Hendersonville. Contact information is provided below.
