Korean War Veterans Association announces name change

The Korean War Veterans Association is proud to announce a name change. Known as Chapter 314 before Dec. 5, we are now known as the General Frank Blazey Chapter 314 of the Korean War Veterans Association, Hendersonville, NC.

General Frank Blazey was one of our Founding Members. He passed away on Monday, June 19, 2017 at the age of 92. Frank Earl Blazey, was a much decorated Army Officer who served and led troops in the Korean and Vietnam wars, many times under fire. He retired as a brigadier general. The Chapter is honored to add his name to our name.

Our chapter meets at noon every second Wednesday of the month at the Golden Corral, 2530 Chimney Rock Rd, Hendersonville, NC 28792. Lunch at noon, meeting at 1 p.m.

Our mission is to solicit donations from members of the public to support active military and veterans groups. Currently we are supporting the Veterans Restoration Quarters in Asheville, which is a place for homeless veterans to be temporally housed and trained in various job skills. We also support fund raising for the expansion of the Korean War Memorial in Washington D.C. to add “A Wall of Remembrance ” which will have the names of all those killed in action during the Korean War.

If you have EVER honorably served in Korea as a member of the U.S. Armed Forces September 3, 1945 to Present, or served outside of Korea June 25, 1950 to Jan. 31, 1955, you qualify to be a Regular Member of the Korean War Veterans Association, Inc.

Membership in the KWVA consists of Regular Members, Associate Members and Honorary Members. No person is excluded from membership because of race, color, creed, sex, national or ethnic origin, or physical or mental disability, so long as the individual meets the service requirements.
