PRESS RELEASE:
Local artist, Anita Funston, will be unveiling the installation that she created for Art Putt. First Night Raleigh will be opening this interactive artist created miniature golf course celebrating North Carolina’s many firsts.
Anita Funston lives in Henderson County. She is a sculptor and painter who enjoys working on unique and challenging art projects. Artists were chosen to incorporate art installations into the 9 golf holes constructed by set designer Greg Osbeck. Artsplosure organized the first annual miniature golf course exhibition for First Night Raleigh. Art Putt will be open for visitors to play golf on December 30 and 31 at Market Hall in City Market Raleigh.
Regarding the theme of Art Putt, Anita stated, “it has been a pleasure to work with Cameron Laws of Artsplosure. North Carolina is known for many firsts, such as first in flight. I chose the topic of salamanders. North Carolina is a leader of biodiversity of salamanders with at has least 60 species. My installation has a large painting of three salamanders and a natural habitat that will reveal a surprise of numerous small salamander sculptures. I look forward to sharing my art at First Night Raleigh.”
