Local filmmakers Gorilla With a Mustache win at Filmapalooza 2014

Locally made shorty film, “Joint Effort,” by Gorilla With a Mustache Films, won Film Challenge Best Film of 2013 at this year’s Filmapalooza. More than 120 films were submitted for the National Film Challenge. The jury narrowed that list to 15 to be considered for Audience Choice voting, and the local team was named the winner in a press release issued this week.

Filmapalooza 2014 just wrapped up, and we’re not kidding when we say it was the best Filmapalooza yet! Almost 350 filmmakers from 85 cities all around the world came to New Orleans for our end of year film festival and celebration. Highlights include our bar crawl, karaoke party, film workshops, and a great wrap party.

The most exciting part of Filmapalooza was of course, the screening of all the Best Films from the 2013 Tour and the special Awards Ceremony hosted by the very well-received actor David Costabile (Lincoln, Breaking Bad, Flight of the Concords, etc.). We not only recognized each of the Best Films, but also announced the international award winners, as well as the films that will screen at Cannes in May 2014. A very special congratulations to all of our filmmakers, but especially to “Geen Klote!” by De Filmband from Amsterdam, the Grand Champion of Best 2013 48 Hour Film!
