Local surgeon is part of national design team to build reverse shoulder prosthesis

From the press release:

August 2012: As part of a nationwide four-member surgeon design team, local orthopaedic surgeon Gordon I. Groh, M.D., has developed a redesigned humeral component for the reverse shoulder prosthesis, or RSP. The new RSP Monoblock™ shoulder system allows surgeons to use reverse shoulder replacement surgery to help more patients, including those with fractures as well as those with painful conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis and torn rotator cuffs.

Dr. Groh, a board-certified specialist in shoulder, elbow and hand surgery practicing at Blue Ridge Bone & Joint, is a nationally recognized expert and instructor in reverse shoulder replacement and surgical treatments for various shoulder and elbow disorders.

The other design surgeons on the team were from California and Florida.
