Maybank-Rhett Nature Center in Flat Rock celebrates June 8 dedication

Maybank-Rhett Nature Center

Press release from the Village of Flat Rock:

The Flat Rock Park and Recreation Foundation, Inc. is pleased to announce the official dedication and public celebration of the Maybank-Rhett Nature Center will take place on Saturday, June 8 at 11:00 a.m.  All are welcome to attend.  Light refreshments will be served.

Located within the heart of the Park, the Maybank-Rhett Nature Center proves the perfect spot to sit and enjoy the heartbeat of nature, to observe wildlife, and to learn about flora and fauna unique to our area. Situated between three distinct environments, the Nature Center is connected by trails and bridges to the wetlands, perimeter trail, and interior trails throughout the Park.

The collective family gift from Maybank and Rhett family members provides preservation and protection of local native plants and animals for generations to come.  Informative, beautifully crafted panels display photos and details about the wildlife in the Park and Western North Carolina.  The Nature Center Bench, created by local artisans from The Art of Steeling, is the centerpiece of the pavilion.

The Flat Rock Park and Recreation Foundation encourages families, schools, educators and conservation organizations to use the center as a hub for programming and educational initiatives.  The Maybank-Rhett Nature Center is truly a magical place of learning and reflection.
