Press release from Mills River Farmers Market:

Mills River, NC – May 4, 2019 is a day many folks have been waiting for. The Mills River Farm Market will open for their 11th season. The Market, conveniently located in the parking lot at Mills River Elementary School, 94 School House Rd. Mills River, opens at 8:00 AM and closes at noon.

The Mills River Farm Market is a producer only market with farms located within a 50 mile radius. This gives the shopper a chance to talk with the grower about their growing practices as well as receive the freshest food possible. There is a wide variety of products available for your choosing, from early spring greens and plant starts to meats and breads. Value added items such as jams, ghee, and beeswax products plus crafts are also available. While their parents are shopping, children will enjoy an activity in the Kid’s Zone provided by the Mills River Branch of the Henderson County Public Library. Live music will be provided by Apple Country String Band.

Joe Brittain, Executive Director of the Mills RIver Farm Market, is excited about this season. “We are pleased to have some new vendors this season as well as many returning vendors. We also hope to have a cooking demonstration weekly in our Mobile Demonstration Kitchen so shoppers can learn new cooking techniques and try new foods. Of course we will continue to develop our Kid’s Zone and have excellent local musicians weekly.”

The Mills River Farm Market is a 501c(3) agency. Market is open from 8:00 AM until 12:00 noon, May through October. Debit and credit cards are accepted. SNAP/EBT is happily accepted with a Double Dollars program. When an EBT card is used, the customer is given a matching amount in dollar tokens to be spent at the Mills River Farm Market.
