Celebrate Small-town Living in the Mountains
Saturday, October 10, the 32nd Annual Mountain Glory Festival in Marion NC will celebrate the arrival of autumn in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Visitors can enjoy of crafts, food and music on three blocks of Main Street. Shoppers looking for original handicrafts or homespun enjoyment will find plenty of choices among more than 140 artists, crafters and food booths and a wide variety of entertainment. The festival offers a wide array of arts and crafts. Featured this year is a great selection of custom made jewelry, fabric and knitted bags, hats, scarves and delightful yard art. Great shopping opportunities for Christmas!!! Traditional bluegrass, new country, southern gospel and haunting melodies Native American music, there is music for everyone.
Besides mainstays of music and craft, the festival offers glimpses into local and regional pastimes. The Mountain Glory Quilt Show will be open all of October. Watch apple butter being made and the hit-n-miss engine making ice cream.
One of the most popular areas at the festival each year is the Children’s Area in the Courthouse Lawn, that provides hands-on activities, gem mining, the best-dressed pet show and activities for kids.
