From the press release from Mountain Credit Union:
Fletcher, NC – April 21, 2012 – Mountain Credit Union staff have once again participated in the Walk MS event in Asheville, North Carolina. This year’s event was held at Carrier Park, a park adjacent to the French Broad River on Amboy Road.
The staff of Mountain Credit Union has been a part of National MS Society events since 2003, beginning at the Waynesville Branch, and the Fletcher Branch staff has participated in Walk MS since 2006. This year, several fundraising events were held leading up to the Walk, including a “Charity Booth” at a local restaurant, loose change jars at the teller counters and a Hot Dog and Bake Sale held at the Fletcher Branch. While there is still time to collect donations, all proceeds from the staff’s efforts up to this point were turned in during the Walk event to benefit the Greater Carolinas Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
The Mountain CU staff, as always, took part in the Walk as part of the “Leezy Squeezies” team. This year, the event took on a whole new meaning since the team’s Capitan, Leigh Angel, who has MS and is the wife of Chris Angel (Mountain CU’s Branch Manager in Fletcher), has been struggling with her vision since just before Christmas 2011. “Mountain Credit Union has been a huge part of our Walk MS team since 2003,” said Leigh Angel. “Their hard work is very much appreciated and with their help, our teams have turned in close to $20,000.00 over the past nine years.”
Several other local businesses were involved in the fundraising this year, including Beef O’ Brady’s restaurant in Arden, North Carolina, where the Charity Booth was held. Also, PFP Services, Fletcher Car Care, Clean Streak Inc. and the Fletcher Youth Baseball & Softball League were sponsors of the team. Their involvement was also very much appreciated.
Mountain Credit Union has seven branch offices located throughout Western North Carolina and serves anyone who lives, works, worships or attends school in Buncombe, Cherokee, Clay, Graham, Haywood, Henderson, Jackson, Macon, Madison and Swain Counties of North Carolina.
