No Evil Foods wins honorable mention in the Made in NC Awards

PRESS RELEASE:

Pulled Pork Made Entirely from Plants Receives Honor in Statewide Competition

Voting for Audience Choice takes place August 15-22 at: www.madeinncawards.com

Asheville, NC — August 15, 2016 – No Evil Foods announced today that it has been selected as one of three honorable mentions in this year’s Made in NC Awards in the Food & Drink category.

The plant-based meat company, established in 2014, entered Pit Boss, their take on a Southern standby, pulled pork-style BBQ, in the statewide competition. Artisans from across the state entered their highest-quality products to be critiqued by a panel of judges and Pit Boss was selected out of over 500 submissions.

The Made in NC Awards is the first annual contest hosted by Our State magazine that celebrates the cream of the crop of handmade, locally sourced, artisanal products in North Carolina. The panel of judges were “thrilled with the enthusiasm and engagement from skilled North Carolina makers” which made the task of selecting winners exceptionally difficult. Each entry was evaluated based on quality, tie to North Carolina, and innovation, and ultimately the slow smoked Southern BBQ Plant Meat, “stood out from the crowd.”

“To have our plant-based BBQ recognized in a statewide competition is an incredible honor,” stated Sadrah Schadel, co-founder of No Evil Foods. She went on to say that “North Carolina is smack dab in the middle of the BBQ belt, so if our meats made from plants can compete here, and win, they can compete anywhere.”

Try some of No Evil Foods’ award winning meats at restaurants & retailers across 11 states, or direct through their online ‘Butcher Shop’ at www.noevilfoods.com. Winners in all Made in NC Awards categories are viewable at www.madeinNCawards.com where you can also cast a vote for an Audience Choice winner from August 15-22nd.
