Registration open for Penland Kids Camp

From Penland School of Crafts:

Registration Open for Penland Kids Camp

This summer Penland School of Crafts will be offering an exciting program of one week, arts-oriented day camps for children ages 3 to 18. Penland’s Kids Camp begins on June 20th and runs through August 5th with different camps each week.

Camp themes include creating works in clay, furniture making, storytelling and folk art, and papier mache sculpture. One camp will combine art, stories, music, and movement to create a fun educational experience all about insects. Another will use dye, felting, clay, and finger puppets to explore various materials from the earth. Campers can crochet, go on scavenger hunts, sing, play games, and explore how monsters live and play!

Most camps are half day, either morning or afternoon. One full-day camp, The Little House on Penland Hill, will be an exploration of life in the nineteenth century of Laura Ingalls Wilder—pioneer clothes provided. Age ranges vary for each camp depending on subject matter.

Tuition for Penland’s Kids Camp is $100 per half day camp ($200 for the full day camp) and includes materials and snacks. Scholarships are also available.

A schedule, descriptions of all the camps, and the application form are available at penland.org. For more information, call Holly Phillips at 765-2359.
