Three pottery camps offered at TC Arts this summer

PRESS RELEASE:

Transylvania Community Arts Council and Mountain Roots will both host week-long pottery camps for kids this summer. Mountain Roots will lead camps on July 11 – 15 and again on July 25 – 29 at the TC Arts Council. Morning sessions will run from 9:00 am-Noon for ages 6-10.  Afternoon sessions will run from 1:30pm-4:30pm for ages 10-15.  Cost for the week-long camps are $225 per camper.

During this week of Mountain Roots pottery camp, students will have the opportunity to learn and practice basic hand-building skills including the pinch, coil, and slab techniques. Students will have the opportunity to paint on several of their own glazes (underglazes in various colors), and choose from a variety of colors for their other projects. For those looking for a camp the week of August 1–5, Transylvania Ceramic Arts at TC Arts will offer a week-long pottery camp from 9 am – 12 noon. This camp is for youth ages 6 – 14. Students will explore clay with hand building and the older students will have a chance to learn the wheel. Cost for the pottery camp is $240 and includes clay and all supplies.
