United Way of Henderson County raises more than $1.8 Million for community

Press release from the United Way of Henderson County:

HENDERSONVILLE, NC, MARCH 22, 2016 – United Way of Henderson County celebrated its 2015 Campaign at the LIVE UNITED Celebration on Monday, March 21. The event, held at Flat Rock Playhouse Downtown, was attended by 120 volunteers, business representatives and community members.

Mark Warwick and Paige Posey, 2015 Campaign Chairs, thanked individuals and organizations for their strong support of the campaign and announced that the 2015 Campaign should conclude with a total of more than $1,809,000.

Warwick and Posey commented, “Our time as co-chairs for the United Way 2015 campaign has been exciting for us in so many ways.  What an opportunity!  Working together with the staff, the cabinet and community volunteers to join forces with a network of individuals and corporate sponsors who are making a difference in the lives of so many has been exceptionally rewarding.  To see firsthand how many people, and how much time and effort goes into the annual campaign is awe inspiring.  We’ll take from this the reward of lasting friendships, the satisfaction of knowing that we have made a positive impact, and the understanding that this work is ongoing, as is our responsibility to it.”

Denise Cumbee Long, Executive Director of United Way of Henderson County, noted that the 2015 Campaign results had increased from the previous year. “This celebration is such a wonderful way to end our campaign season”, said Long. “We are proud of our campaign results since they are higher than last year.  We live in a generous community, and it is really great to have the support of so many great businesses, organizations, and Henderson County residents.  When people care about one another, good things happen!”

To recognize the tremendous contributions of time, dollars, and volunteerism, United Way presented campaign achievement awards at the event. This year’s winners include:
