Writers at Wolfe series launches May 20

The Thomas Wolfe Memorial announced its signature summer event series “Writers at Wolfe.” The Saturday readings by distinguished North Carolina authors are sponsored by the Friends of Thomas Wolfe. You will certainly want to add these works to your summer reading list said Site Manager Tom Muir. The program of readings and discussions is free to the public at the Thomas Wolfe Memorial visitor center 52 N. Market Street, Asheville, NC 28801.

On May 20th 2:00 p.m. Michael McFee, introduces his new collection of poetry “We Were Once Here.” Discover how Michael McFee continues to write with special appreciation of the people and language of his native Appalachia.

On June 10th 2:00 p.m. Julia Franks, presents “Over the Plain Houses.” An amazing and spellbinding Southern story set in depression-era North Carolina.

On July 8th 2:00 p.m. David Madden launches “Marble Goddesses and Mortal Flesh.” In his thirteenth fiction, David Madden returns to the protagonist of his early masterpiece Bijou, Lucius Hutchfield, in a series of four novellas.

August 12th 2:00 p.m. Paula Gallant Eckard, discusses “Thomas Wolfe and Lost Children in Southern Literature.” Using Wolfe’s novella, The Lost Boy as a starting point this work explores six southern authors as they trace the create or find the lost child in their work.
