Mountain Xpress and Sherwood’s Music are partnering to showcase local musicians through a series of stripped-down performances for the web. This week Steven Brett and Rebecca Finley-Smith of Camp David perform “Into the Sea.”

Camp David is the moniker of Nottingham, England native Brett, so if you catch a Camp David performance you may be seeing Brett solo or with a full band. These full band performances have been a powerhouse of local musicians with alums from several Asheville bands, including The Hermit Kings, Doc Aquatic and Artimus Pyle Band. The current five-piece line up features Tony Black, Josh Gibbs and Zac Hayes as well as Finley-Smith, who also performs as solo electronic act E8 électronique.

You can hear more tracks from Brett at campdavidmusic.bandcamp.com, including another version of “Into the Sea” and Brett’s acoustic EP recorded at Echo Mountain in 2013. Camp David will play the Emerald Lounge on March 1 with Cheeksters and Fishing for Tigers. Get more updates from Camp David at facebook.com/campdavidasheville.

This video web series is produced by Mountain Xpress and Sherwood’s Music. Check back each week for a new video featuring Asheville and WNC musicians.
