Local Halloween artists are gearing up for a jack-o’-lantern carve-off to benefit Pritchard Park. More than 50 downtown-business owners are expected to deliver orange entries for Pumpkins in the Park, a fundraiser sponsored by Glazer Architecture, Loretta’s, Mayfel’s and Quality Forward.
Here’s how it works: The competing businesses will carve their creations in advance, then display them all at once in Pritchard Park on Friday, Oct. 26, from 5 to 8 p.m. There, the public can vote for their favorites with dollars as well as ballots.
According to organizer Loretta Woolley, in addition to the squashy seasonal art, the fourth staging of the annual event will include fire breathers and palm readers. Quality Forward will once again match the funds raised and use the money to maintain and improve the park.
All downtown businesses are encouraged to enter. For more information, call 252-8840.
