When will our politicians have the courage to tax those who can most afford it? Most of these problems would disappear if would just increase the taxes on the wealthy. The degree of wealth inequality is shameful and needs to be reduced.

LOL when will the voters realize that dimwits in positions of power won’t get them anywhere but poor. See it’;s OK to jack up my property taxes so Wanda Green can stuff her face on one end, and some bum in section 8 can do the same on the other. But boy oh boy when those taxes are spread across the board, we get statements such as yours.

If you want taxation to spread social justice, you won’t hurt the rich. They have the money. And the influence to ensure that they get breaks to make up for any “taxes”. Can’t say the same about the middle class or the “poor” though.

the wealthy already pay their fair share… the top 1% pays 40% of federal income tax already … and many people pay no taxes at all. ever. (other than sales tax).

Well yes and no. They pay a lot in taxes but they also make a lot of money. On the backs of people who in many cases get welfare just to survive. And in that instance the taxpayer is subsidizing not the individual, but the business owners.

Trump lowered corporate taxes with the intention of those businesses passing it on as raises to their employees. Some did the right thing. Many though took the money and didn’t. And that’s not an indication that Trump’s policies are bad, That’s a misnomer because we see the alternative of taxes being wasted away by overpaid government cronies. It is indicative though of greedy owners who assume the old ways will continue. And it’s up to consumers to use their BUYING power to stop doing business with these people until they either wise up or shut down.

Never cause for thousands of years the rich have profited off harming others.
Ethics could improve capitalism. But… Stupidity and greed kills.
The rich piss on the poor because they can.

This is probably the truest cartoon to ever appear in the Mtn. X. This lady is all about doing whatever it takes to appease her political bosses, no matter who it hurts or impacts. That’s exactly what happens when you’ve been in unchecked power for as long as Cathy Ball has.
-Who do you think implemented pay to use Sanitation services (2015)?
-Who do you think eliminated loose leaf collection because she wouldn’t fund her department equipment requests (2013)?
-Who do you think implemented the DOT contracting model to maintain Asheville City roads and sidewalks (a model that ex-DOT and now Asheville PW Director Greg Shuler says is now failing) (2015-2018, and yes it failed that quickly)?
-Who was the mastermind to author giving New Belgium millions only for them to back out on half of what they promised to construct?
-And, who do you think was over transit when they implemented the Uber-expensive ART (Asheville Redefines Transit) using another ex-DOT, and now Asheville Director (Ken Putnam).
Cathy Ball is the bringer of all of the above ills to the City of Asheville, and it’s beyond me why citizens allow one person to continue to erode their quality of life without raising their torches and pitchforks.
