Letter: Rep. Edwards fails to represent us

Graphic by Lori Deaton

In his most recent email newsletter, Rep. Chuck Edwards completely misses the mark. He continues to show us that he is not interested in supporting the needs and the values of the citizens of Western North Carolina.

While he stonewalls the passage of bipartisan immigration reform as a member of the MAGA caucus in the House of Representatives, he rails about the illegal border crossings that this legislation is meant to address.

He touts his support for “pregnant mothers,” even though he has a track record of opposing measures improving health care, education and nutrition of the living children and mothers in our region.

Edwards, while relying on skewed, outdated statistics, ignores the vast positive results of the Biden administration in overcoming the COVID pandemic, creating millions of good-paying jobs, bringing high-speed internet to hundreds of communities, improving the economy and expanding access to health care.

For our representation in Congress, in Raleigh and in local government, the working families of WNC can do better. By electing Democrats at all levels, these leaders will continue to restore our rights, provide the services we need, sustain our families’ well-being and expand opportunities for all of us to live better lives.

Vote your values in 2024! Vote all the way down the ballot in the upcoming primary and in the November general election. Vote for your family and our shared future.

Not sure where you’re getting off on saying Edwards NOT for the people! Other than being a bit tetched in the head, you would have to be trying to oust someone that truly has been helping us! Maybe you should receive his emails where he fights for us daily! Our true enemy is our city leaders, brain torched liberals and if your the few that don’t see their evilness in action already, we ask you to find a nice comfortable rock, and crawl under it. I don’t know any other Rep. that remains available with his legal advisors to help with legal issues. He has fought for many great things, and has made progress. Here on earth we’re pleased with Chuck maybe a relocation is something you should look into.

Well, sure. If you’re into wiping out your fellow citizens with fast food and AR-15s.

It sounds like the problem is you want an open border, since the referenced legislation doesn’t close the border.
If 5,000 illegal aliens per day, per week come or 8,500 per day come in Alejandro Mayorkas secretary of Homeland Security can chose to close the border. This is the gentleman who say’s the border is secure now. These numbers don’t include unaccompanied minors and there have been people in their 20’s who say they’re minors.
As acknowledged on news show 20/20 recently the fastest growing group are Chinese military age men.
Known illegal immigrants of course has no relation to the unknown illegal immigrants.
Thousands of people in camouflage clothing, wearing back packs and wearing shoe covers to help hide their footprints are regularly photographed coming across farms close to the border.

Edwards represents one thing ….evangelical MAGA dunces bent on bringing their version of “mountain values”… err, that would be fascism basically, to your front door. period.

  4. Voirdire

oh, and lest we forget… Edwards also proudly and solidly represents his core backers… the White Nationalists who are the fundamental drivers of the NC GOP MAGA cabal. It’s all about the coded language of bringing back of those fundamental/ fundamentalist “mountain values and culture” that he’s constantly crowing about ..and you know that deal.. the racists who so wantonly and desperately want to get back to the good old days when they and Jesus we’re in charge here in WNC. God help us.
