An upcoming PTSD Town Hall aims to connect veterans with resources to help them deal with PTSD. The event will feature panel speakers and have representatives from local, state and federal organizations that work with veterans.
A-B Tech announces writing scholarship winner
Every year, in conjunction with the annual publication of The Rhapsodist, A-B Tech’s student literary magazine, the magazine’s editorial team awards the Helen Dehnke Smith Memorial Writing Scholarship to a Rhapsodist contributor. This year the scholarship was awarded to Magnolia Wilson, currently a student at A-B Tech.
AB Tech’s Rhapsodist celebrates its fourth year of publication
There’s more to The Rhapsodist than just getting student submissions (and some faculty offerings) into print. Students who produce the journa learn layout and graphic design, dealing with printers and publicizing the magazine (including producing videos for airing on the A-B Tech student channel), among other things. And according to the students, the journal inspires dedication and commitment.
One meal at a time: Dinner at the Kitchen Ready table
During the past few weeks, these cooks have gotten used to serving three-course meals to whoever shows up. But there are no point-of-sale systems, uniformed waitresses or fancy, laminated menus here, because this isn’t your average restaurant: It’s the Southside Community Kitchen on Livingston Street, the café for Green Opportunities’ Kitchen Ready program.

A-B Tech concert series spotlights talented faculty
Jason DeCristofaro would like to see the community college’s music department receive acclaim similar to what the rest of A-B Tech has enjoyed. In an effort to showcase the talent of his fellow faculty, the adjunct instructor has organized a four-part concert series, which he says is the first that A-B Tech has ever held.
All-female A-B Tech culinary team advances to national championship
With a menu spotlighting the products of Asheville-area farmers, a team of culinary students from A-B Tech won the American Culinary Federation’s Student Team Regional Championship for the Southeast at the Southeast Regional Competition held Saturday and Sunday, Jan. 10-11, in Atlanta.
