Having profiled and issued their awards everywhere from cities like New York to regions as broad as South Florida, Star Chefs has now decided to profile North and South Carolina for its latest cluster of honors, the Rising Star awards, which are given to stand-out industry professionals younger than 40.
Korean House to open downtown this summer
Chef Kristina Im co-owns Stone Bowl Korean in South Asheville. She’ll open Korean House with her brother, Jayson, and serve an array of traditional Korean dishes (including dolsot bibimbap, or stone bowls).

A clogged sewer line backed up into the basement of Tupelo Honey Cafe, a popular Asheville restaurant and tourist destination, causing thousands of dollars of damage and forcing the restaurant to remain closed for more than a week.
Old Europe, Z Lounge are closed ***UPDATED***
The downtown Asheville eatery and the adjoining lounge have closed for now after their lease was not renewed. Co-owner Zoltan Vetro says he plans to reopen Old Europe at another location in a few months.
