After the Thanksgiving holiday and Black Friday shopping frenzies, the city's own august governing body is back at it on Nov. 27, as Asheville City Council discusses a possible water-system merger, greenway development, and more.
A bevy of reports is on Council's agenda, including an update on a possible merger of the city's water system with the Metropolitan Sewerage District. The report will discuss the implications of MSD's Nov. 11 report and present some of the city's findings from its own study on the issue. The push for a merger comes from state legislators led by Rep. Tim Moffitt, and in a 3:30 p.m. work session before the meeting, Council will discuss its legislative priorities for the coming year.
Council will also hear reports on finances, economic development and other issues. The expansion of a manufactured home park on Airport Road and contract to develop the Beaucatcher greenway are also on the agenda.
Asheville City Council meets at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 27 in Council's chambers on the second floor of City Hall. The 3:30 p.m. work session will take place on the first floor conference room.
