Alice in Wonderland at Asheville Community Theatre

PRESS RELEASE:

Just after a residency at the National Theatre in Washington, DC, Bright Star Touring Theatre will bring Lewis Carroll’s classic, Alice in Wonderland to the Asheville Community Theatre Mainstage at 10:00 AM, Saturday, October 16. Join Bright Star for the show and refreshments afterward. New Chief Operating Officer, Josh Batenhorst, will be at the show to meet and greet fans of Alice and Bright Star.

Alice in Wonderland is designed to take audiences on Alice’s thrilling journey into the rabbit hole, meeting the most memorable characters from the story along the way. The Queen of Hearts, the mysterious Cheshire Cat, the Mad Hatter and more all make their appearance in this 45 minute production.“ Says David Ostergaard, Company Founder, “When you see such fantastical characters coming to life before you, it’s hard not to be drawn into the story. You get to share in the adventure. We hope young audiences will be inspired to use their imaginations, to learn more about theatre and, as we usually say in our literary shows, to read the book!”

Bright Star Touring Theatre serves 1,500 audiences annually in schools, theaters, libraries, museums and more across the country. They offer a wide variety of curriculum-based programs ranging from The Lady of Bullyburg to Heroes of the Underground Railroad. “We travel with everything we need and we can perform just about anywhere,” says National Tour Manager Reeni Dowd. “Our actors join us from all over the country and they sometimes visit ten different cities each week, playing a huge variety of characters. It’s a great way for them to flex their acting muscles!” The company performs regularly at the National Theatre in Washington DC and has gained international attention, visiting Russia and Germany with their productions. Information about all their interactive shows, including production videos, photos, study guides and more is available online at brightstartheatre.com.
