Piper Jones Band – Benefit Concert for the Grandfather Mountain Highland Games
Jack of the Wood, 95 Patton Ave. Downtown Asheville
Cover: $10

Jack of the Wood will rock on January 31st as local world-class bagpiper EJ Jones leads the Piper Jones Band in a night of celtic music from Scotland to Appalachia. EJ will be joined by bouzouki player Frances Cunningham, a Nashville resident and regular performer at the Grand Old Opry. Musical guests will join in throughout the evening, lending traditional songs, the sounds of old-time fiddle, and more. Traditional Breton dances from the celtic region of France will also be led by members of the band, bringing the audience in to exuberantly connect with the music.

All concert proceeds will be donated in support of the Grandfather Mountain Highland Games in Linville, NC. GMHG will be celebrating 59 years of Scottish tradition in the mountains July 9-12, 2015. The Highland Games provides important support for Scottish music and culture in the region, and recently made their support even stronger by allocating funds to pay musicians at the games for the first time. EJ Jones of the Piper Jones Band, is the new entertainment director for the Games and he believes that the sharing and continued growth of traditional music in this region is of vital importance. This concert is played as a celebration of that spirit, and seeks to spark interest in the Highland Games and to connect celtic music and culture enthusiasts, musicians, and new community.
