PRESS RELEASE FROM WHITE HORSE BLACK MOUNTAIN:

When a dictionary definition is sought for the word “core” the list of meanings is long, but most refer to something central, important, and yet somehow different. As an assemblage of some of the Asheville area’s top jazz players, The Core is all that and more. One of the many projects of the multitalented Dr. Bill Bares, the five-piece band will perform at the White Horse Black Mountain on Wednesday, August 10 at 7:30 p.m.

The Core reunites the original members of Hard Bop Explosion (Bares on piano, Justin Ray on trumpet, Jacob Rodriguez on sax, bassist Zack Page and drummer Evan Martin) and reboots the band as a modern jazz group playing all-original music in a format allowing for more risk-taking, chemistry and interactive musical intimacy. At the White Horse they’ll be workshopping soon to be recorded original music as they refine a new side of their musical personalities.

Show starts at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $10 advance/$12 door
Advance tickets available online at:
