The Visual World at the Wedge Studios

PRESS RELEASE:

Twenty Wedge artists have been paired with local and nationally acclaimed poets to create a stimulating new show! This will be the Wedge Studios second in a series of themed shows which opens August 11th, 2016.

In a building that turns 100 years old this year, The Wedge Studios has become one of the premier stops in the River Arts District. As the district grows, the artists of The Wedge continue to celebrate and showcase the talent of their building.

Ever since the Roman poet Horace set down in his Ars Poetica (c. 13 BC) the dictum “ut pictura poesis”–“as is painting, so is poetry”–the two arts have been wedded in the critical mind. Poets and painters sometimes turn to one another for inspiration, and the dialogue has been mutually beneficial.

It has been said that every great piece of art tells a good story. One of our favorite things as artists is to hear a new narrative from an outside source about our work. We invite you to come and enjoy this experience with us and maybe even share a story of your own.
