HT-N: Easter Bonnet Promenade Saturday in Hendersonville

Hats big and small will be on display Saturday at one of the great springtime events in downtown Hendersonville, the Easter Bonnet Promenade. The event will start at 11 a.m. in the 400 block of Main Street, according to the Hendersonville Times-News.

Billed as “an old-fashioned Easter bonnet parade with a new twist,” the promenade is held in the middle of the city’s annual “Tulip Extravaganza.” It was inspired by Barbara Ladner, who always enjoyed “old-timey” celebrations, said event organizer Barbara Hughes.

Hughes started it several years ago.

“I love all the old-fashioned occasions from the past, hence all my other events, ‘Chalk It Up!,’ ‘Mighty Kite Flight,’ ‘Gingerbread Cookie Contest,’” she said. “Their commonality is family-oriented; good, clean fun.
