Ready for a return to the warm, humid weather Western North Carolina usually gets in August?
The National Weather Service says that after an unseasonably cool stretch in July and August, warmer days are ahead starting this week.
The weather service says highs will creep into the high 80s by Wednesday and Thursday, along with greater humidity that will increase chances of showers and thunderstorms late in the day.
July’s overall average at the airport was 71.4 degrees, the Hendersonville Times-News reported Monday. Asheville even tied a record low of 54 degrees on July 30. That’s only happened twice in the past 100 years, in 1895 and again in 1897.
